Curriculum

What Youll Build in 48 Hours Across 6 Weeks

Premium studio-recorded lessons (watch on your schedule) + one live session per week with your instructor for Q&A, code review, and hands-on problem-solving. Designed for professionals working full-time.

6 weeks · 1 live session per week5 modules

JavaScript · ES6+ · Node.js

If your background is Java and Selenium, JavaScript will feel unfamiliar at first. This module covers the parts that matter for Playwright: variables, control flow, functions, arrays, OOP, and async patterns — promises and async/await especially. AI tools are introduced here to help you write and debug code faster. The goal is to get you functional in the language before the automation work starts.

Playwright · Test Runner · Selectors · Assertions · Page Object Model · Auto-waiting

Your first week working directly with Playwright. You’ll install and configure it, write your first test functions, work with locators and browsers, organize tests into groups, and manage hooks and environment variables. AI prompt engineering is introduced as a practical tool for writing tests faster. By the end of the week, the basics are solid.

API Testing · Network Interception · Visual Testing · Multi-browser · Fixtures · Trace Viewer

Assertions, iframes, alerts, mouse actions, web tables, authentication flows, file uploads and downloads — this is where you work through the scenarios that come up constantly in real projects. AI prompt engineering techniques are used here to work through user stories and handle edge cases more efficiently.

Jenkins · GitHub Actions · Cucumber · BDD · Git · Docker

Automation that only runs locally isn’t doing its job. You’ll integrate Playwright into Jenkins and GitHub Actions, configure build jobs, manage environment variables securely, generate test reports, and run tests across different environments. TDD and BDD approaches are both covered so you can work within whatever workflow your team uses.

TypeScript · AI Prompt Engineering · GitHub Copilot · MCP · Refactoring

This final module brings it together — Playwright at depth, with TypeScript, inside a BDD framework. You’ll work through advanced real-world scenarios and consolidate everything from the previous weeks. By the end, you’re not transitioning from Selenium anymore. You’re a Playwright engineer.

Prerequisites

What you need before starting:

Basic programming experience in any language

Comfortable with functions, loops, conditional logic.

Software automation testing knowledge

You’ve written automated tests before, in any framework.

Working understanding of Git

Clone, commit, push, pull, branching.

This is not a beginner program. If youve never written code or automated a test, start with CYDEOs AI QA Automation (SDET) program instead.

The Methodology

Built on CYDEOs 10-Year Training Methodology

CYDEO has trained 14,000+ tech professionals across 36 countries. Our SDET and Cybersecurity programs are full career-change programs for beginners. This Playwright program is different — its built for professionals who already have technical foundations and need focused, efficient skill acquisition.

From the Founder

We built this program because our graduates and working QA professionals kept asking for advanced Playwright training. The instructor brings the real-world depth this audience needs.

FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

Why not just learn Playwright from YouTube or the official docs?

You can. The Playwright documentation is genuinely excellent, and YouTube has solid free courses. If you’re highly self-disciplined and finish self-paced courses, those are legitimate options. Here’s what the data shows: MIT researchers found a consistent 96% dropout rate across online courses over six years. Udemy’s own data shows 70% of enrolled students never start the course they bought. This program gives you a cohort that starts and finishes together, weekly live sessions with instructor access, and structured deadlines. If you’ve successfully completed self-paced courses before, you may not need this. If you’ve bought courses and not finished them, this program is designed for that pattern.

How is this different from a $15 Udemy course?

Udemy’s best Playwright courses are genuinely good resources for $15. The differences are structural: weekly live sessions with real-time code review, enterprise-scale projects instead of demo apps, CI/CD with Jenkins and BDD with Cucumber integrated throughout (not a brief section), AI prompt engineering as core curriculum, and cohort-based accountability with weekly milestones. Structured cohort programs achieve 85–96% completion. Udemy courses achieve under 10%. The $699 buys the structure that ensures you actually finish.

Will my employer pay for this?

In most cases, yes. 92% of US employers offer educational benefits, and the IRS allows $5,250/year in tax-free education assistance. We’ve included a copy-paste email template in the “Get Your Employer to Pay” section above. Most approvals take 1–2 weeks.

I use Java/Selenium. Will my experience transfer?

More than you’d expect. Locator strategies, page object patterns, assertions, waits, and test architecture all transfer directly. The syntax changes, but the mental model doesn’t. Module 1 covers JavaScript fundamentals specifically for engineers coming from other languages. By Module 2, you’ll notice how Playwright simplifies patterns that required workarounds in Selenium: auto-waiting replaces explicit waits, built-in selectors replace third-party strategies, and the Playwright Inspector provides debugging Selenium doesn’t have. The biggest adjustment is usually async/await — the curriculum addresses this in Week 1.

What if I’ve never used TypeScript or JavaScript?

Module 1 is a dedicated JavaScript week for exactly this. You need programming experience in some language (Java, Python, C#). If you’ve written automated tests in any framework, you have the foundation. You start writing Playwright tests in JavaScript, then transition to TypeScript in Module 5. If you’ve never written code in any language, this isn’t the right starting point — consider CYDEO’s SDET program instead.

How much time per week? I’m working full-time.

Seven hours per week for six weeks. Watch studio-recorded lessons on your schedule (5–6 hours), then attend one live session per week (1–1.5 hours) for Q&A and code review. Live sessions are recorded if you miss one. Most students fit this into evenings and weekends.

What do I get after completing?

A Certificate of Achievement from CYDEO and 3 months of continued platform access. To be transparent: this program does not include job placement, career coaching, or interview preparation. Those are part of CYDEO’s career-change programs. This is skill acquisition — you leave with a new technical capability to apply in your current role or use to pursue better opportunities on your own.

What does ‘Hybrid Sessions’ mean?

Two types of content each week: studio-recorded lessons you watch at your own pace (high production quality, not Zoom recordings), and one live session per week with your instructor and cohort. The recordings deliver core instruction. The live sessions are for interaction — questions, code review, working through problems together. Both are essential.

Can I start using Playwright at work during the program?

Yes, and we encourage it. By Week 2, you’ll write basic Playwright tests. By Week 4, you’ll have CI/CD knowledge to integrate them into your pipeline. Many students start with a small proof-of-concept: rewrite one flaky Selenium test in Playwright and show the team the speed and reliability difference.

Is there a team discount?

For teams of 3+, contact us at rafael.pamir@cydeo.com for group pricing. Many companies train their entire QA team simultaneously — this accelerates migration because the team learns the same patterns and can support each other afterward.

What’s the refund policy?

101% money-back guarantee. Complete the 6-week program and do the work. If you don’t feel it was worth every dollar, we refund 101% of your tuition. You literally cannot lose money.

Is this worth it if I only have basic automation experience?

Yes, if you meet the prerequisites: basic programming, some automated testing experience (even basic Selenium scripts), and Git familiarity. The curriculum progresses from JavaScript fundamentals through advanced Playwright, CI/CD, and AI tooling. If you have zero automation experience, start with a more foundational program first.
